New PRAH Recordings signee Donna Thompson releases meditative new single 'Matchstick' from her upcoming EP Something True, her first musical outing after a difficult period of inactivity. Like so many artists the Londoner was faced with the stark realities of trying to make art in an increasingly expensive and competitive city that can be incredibly hostile to creativity; thankfully a few years later she is back, regularly collaborating with artists at East London's Total Refreshment Centre and releasing new music. 'Matchstick' is a grounding mantra and reminder to stay mindful: 'you're not going to feel amazing everyday, just breathe and know that it's going to be okay', sung over taught drum beats, fluttering horns and repetitive piano loops. Making art is hard, it takes time and resilience, and with 'Matchstick' Donna proves she knows this all too well and offers the track as a useful tool and reminder give yourself a minute to breathe and take it all in. - Toby Evans-Jesra
